Movie Review-"The Strangers-Chapter 2"

When it comes to franchises & sequels, I never go to the theater expecting to like it. Very rarely is a sequel as good as the original (especially in the horror movie genre). Since I co-host a horror/cult cinema podcast, I felt it was my duty to watch "The Strangers-Chapter 2" in my go-to theater inside The Aviation Mall over the weekend.

To be fair, it wasn't lacking entertainment. For 98 minutes, the film kept me engaged, but after the film was over, I kept saying in my mind: "Was this sequel necessary!?". We get all sorts of interesting scenarios: A cat & mouse game inside a morgue, a fight with a (CGI) wild boar, the typical chase through the woods, etc. This time around (hopefully without spoiling the film), we get a backstory for one of the masked strangers, which I felt was forced. The backstory just wasn't drawn out well and added nothing to the film or franchise. But, we are getting a chapter 3 as promised in the credits!
