Movie Review-Frankenstein

I've heard about Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein" for a while now! It's one of his favorite stories and has been a dream of his to re-create it and pardon the pun, give the story "new life"! I was bummed personally that Netflix got a hold of it, as they're idea of a theatrical release is different from most people's, but last week I had some time off and there was a theater in the Wilton Mall that had some screenings, so it was something I didn't want to miss out on!

I was blown away with the usual incredible visuals that comes with del Toro film, I also felt the film captured the feel of Mary Shelley's novel better than any other previous film adaptation! The only issues I had with the film is with a running time of 2.5 hours, it did feel too long! Also, some of the film fell emotionally uneven and while Mia Goth adds a lot of depth to the Elizabeth character, she feels criminally underused and although Christoph Waltz is typical great self, his character isn't really necessary to the plot! All in all, a decent film and one I WILL re-watch! Keep an eye on rising Australian actor, Jacob Elordi! He is absolutely incredible and unforgettable as the creature!

Watch this on the big screen if you can or catch it at home this weekend on Netflix!
