New Rules on Bringing Dogs into the U.S. from Canada

Beginning on August 1, all dogs entering the United States from Canada must be at least six months old. This new rule from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is to help control the spread of rabies. Dogs entering the U.S. from Canada will require paperwork for the CDC proving the dog has a valid microchip and has been vaccinated against rabies. Additionally, this means that if you are traveling between the U.S. and Canada, your dog must be at least six months old. Do you think these new rules are fair or extreme? Why?
