72 Years Of Godzilla

Happy Godzilla Day! November 3rd, 1954 was when the very first Godzilla film was released!

We have a HUGE reason to celebrate this year as “Godzilla Minus Zero” hits theaters this week!

This is a great opportunity for you to see Ishirō Honda’s original 1954 masterpiece!

While many of the Godzilla films that followed in the 1960’s & 1970’s were tongue in cheek and in some cases, campy, Honda’s original film is deeply horrifying and tragic!

On November 3rd, 1954, audiences were horrified and devastated after seeing Godzilla! Some audiences actually left the theater confused, terrified, and convinced that a real nuclear incident was unfolding.

Because the film opens with a sudden flash of light, an explosion, and a fishing boat sinking, it explicitly mirrored the highly classified and terrifyingly fresh headlines of the “Lucky Dragon 5” tragedy from just months earlier.

The scary reality though and one of the main reasons why the original Godzilla still endures 70 plus years later is the chilling reminder: the greatest monster humanity will ever face is the one we see when we look in the mirror!
